The Guaranteed Income Pilot, launched under the Family First Economic Support Project (FFESP), is designed to support parents and legal guardians who are caring for Black/African American and/or American Indian/Alaska Native children aged 0–5 years residing in specific ZIP codes across Sacramento County. This initiative targets families whose household income falls below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL), recognizing the unique economic and systemic barriers faced by these communities. Through this focused eligibility criterion, the program aims to create equitable financial opportunities for families disproportionately impacted by economic instability.
A total of 200 participants will be randomly selected through a lottery process to receive $725 per month for 12 consecutive months. These unconditional payments are intended to provide financial security and flexibility, allowing families to meet essential needs such as housing, food, childcare, and transportation without restrictions. By providing a steady income source, the program seeks to reduce financial stress and enable caregivers to focus on their children’s healthy development and overall well-being.
